Lemon Meringue Protein Milkshake

When life hands you lemons, whip those babies into our Lemon Meringue shake

With summer fast approaching, we just had to create a lemon meringue protein shake that contained lemon without the hassle of baking!

Here is the recipe for our decadent lemon meringue protein powder shake!

What you'll need:

  • 1 serving Protein Milkshake Cupcake Batter 
  • 1 cup nut milk (almond, cashew, coconut)
  • 1 tablespoon Greek or coconut yogurt
  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon extract (or fresh lemon zest) 
  • 1/2 cup ice

How it's made:

  1. Add nut milk, choice of yogurt, Protein Milkshake Cupcake Batter protein powder, lemon extract (or fresh lemon zest) and ice to a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Optional: Pour into a glass and top with whipped cream and lemon zest if desired! 

HELPFUL TIPS 

1) If wanting a more pungent lemon meringue taste, you can sub the lemon extract with some shaved lemon- just make sure to remove pesticides from the lemons. You can do this by filling a bowl with four cups of water and one cup of white vinegar. Soak the lemons for twenty minutes and proceed to rinse with water- then they will be ready to be used!

2) This protein recipe is a low calorie shake recipe and a low carb protein shake recipe, but if wanting to include whipped cream, we suggest making your own whipped cream. Our favorite whipped cream recipe to this day is made by the bakers at The Keto Kitchen, and the recipe is sugar-free and low-carb! Not to mention, it is quick and easy to "whip" up! Most of the popular whipped creams on the market contain chemicals that can have consquences to health and overall well-being.
