What Ingredients You'll Need to Make This Thin Mint Protein Shake

• Chocolate Protein Milkshake

• Plant milk (unsweetened)

• 4 fresh mint leaves or 1 drop peppermint oil

Choosing Your Peppermint Extract

Peppermint extract is what gives this keto-friendly Thin Mints protein shake its minty flavor. You want to make sure you’re using peppermint extract and not peppermint oil for this recipe. Extract is diluted with alcohol, while most peppermint essential oils are not edible. They sell peppermint oil for baking in the spice aisle next to the peppermint extract, but I don’t recommend it for this recipe as it hasn’t been diluted. If you have peppermint sweet drops, you can use 5-10 drops in place of the peppermint extract.

A keto-friendly peppermint oil drop we recommend is SweetLeaf Peppermint Sweet Drops: they are stevia drops infused with peppermint oil, which will add sweetness to this recipe.

What is the right kind of milk suitable for keto diet?

If on a keto diet, it is best to use unsweetened plant milk as it is the most nutritious and does not contains lower sugar, caloric, and carb content than using dairy milk. We recommend using almond milk for this keto cookie protein smoothie recipe, however other unsweetened milks will work as well.

Ingredients You'll Need:

• 1 serving Chocolate Protein Milkshake

• 1 cup nut milk

• 4 fresh mint leaves or 1 drop peppermint oil

• 1/2 cup ice

Directions:

  1. Combine your Protein Milkshake Organic Protein Powder, your choice of nut milk, and mint leaves or peppermint to a blender.

  2. Add ice and blend!

  3. Optional: Top with homemade whipped cream and a mint to garnish!

What can I add in this protein shake to make it higher in keto content?

We made this keto-friendly Thin Mint Protein Smoothie with frozen cauliflower rice and with frozen avocado as bases instead of ice and both turned out delicious! This really just depends on the nutrients you need at the time. If you want less fat, don’t choose avocado. If you want to add more antioxidants, opt for riced cauliflower. If you don’t want either, stick with ice!

Can I store this keto protein shake?

As this chocolate cookie protein smoothie recipe contains fresh peppermint, we would not recommend storing this protein shake as if using fresh mint, fresh prep is required. However, if using peppermint oil, a protein shake can be stored in the fridge for up to two hours for pure enjoyment.
